We live in an era that is totally lacking in common sense. When you buy a Wall Street Journal at Tampa airport they charge you tax. So a $2 paper costs you $2.16, which means you get a handlful of change back at an airport. Really? Tax on a newspaper? C’mon, give me a break. Just skip the tax on a newspaper and let me hand over my $2 without getting a fistful of useless coins back. (Flame-boys — save your breathe about using my credit card for buying a newspaper — not going to happen … EVER). Yes, it’s not fair to give newspapers a pass when you are charging tax on a bunch of other items. So what. It’s a newspaper, at an AIRPORT. Cut a deal with Rupert Murdoch. He’ll shave a little off the newspaper and you shave a little off the tax and let us all get a newspaper without getting a bunch of change back.
